You’re wasting your time with Mobile Marketing
Yep…that’s right. Mobile marketing is probably a huge waste of time! I can hear the mumbling in the crowd right now. Haven’t you seen how mobile internet usage has passed up laptops and desktops? Haven’t you seen how many mobile devices are out there for cryin’ out loud? I mean, c’mon…there are billions of mobile phones in the world…and maybe most of them are smartphones now…and that number is only gonna grow.
And you might think I haven’t considered those numbers don’t even include iPads and other tablet devices? My goodness…there are millions more of those. Wake up, man. All those devices use the mobile internet. So why in the world should a business owner forget about mobile marketing? OK…ease up. Take a breath. Relax.
I said forget about mobile marketing…not the mobile market.
After all, those people on all those smartphones don’t turn into different people when they get home and browse the internet from their laptop or desktop computers. And all those computer users in cubicles, home-offices, and warehouses don’t suddenly morph into mobile aliens of some sort. People are still people…whether they’re on a giant HD monitor or a 2 inch flip phone. (do they still have those?)
And here’s the point…you should never market to anything but people. In spite of information to the contrary, artificial intelligence still doesn’t possess credit cards, debit cards, or bank accounts. At least not yet. So remember this…your marketing shouldn’t change simply because you might have some added focus on people in their cars, on subways, or busses, or in airplane terminals. You gotta focus on how you can best serve the needs of the customers and clients who love the way you do bidness.
Sure, you should have a mobile ready website. And it should have your most important info within reach of an easy thumb click. And it wouldn’t hurt if your site ranked well in citation sites like Yelp, Google Business, or others. But those are all about mobile delivery…not mobile marketing. And you could get some cool SMS strategies working for you. But again…that’s delivery. You still need to think about PEOPLE.
Serve people and lead the way.
Serve mobile marketing strategies, tactics, and trends, and you’ll always be playing catch up.
